Minutes

The Bancroft County Public Health Board of Trustees met at 5:30 p.m. in the conference room of the Community Services Building, Adams Junction. Chair Rao called the meeting to order.

Present: Trustees Rao, Kellerman, Benitez, Hoyt, and Mehta. Also present: Public Health Director Dr. Lena Foss and Community Health Nurse Supervisor Karen Whitfield, RN.

Motion by Benitez, seconded by Hoyt, to approve the April 16, 2026 minutes. Carried 5–0.

Director Foss reported Governor Reynolds signed the property tax reform law, SF 2472, on May 3. As applied to the county hospital levy, the law caps annual revenue growth at 4%, beginning with the FY2028 budget. Foss presented preliminary modeling showing the cap leaves room to fund the county's expected share of a regional subacute mental health partnership, but with less margin for other hospital and public health cost growth than in recent years.

The Board directed Foss to coordinate budget planning with the Board of Supervisors' broader FY2028 planning process.

With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:34 p.m.. Next meeting: as scheduled.
